About Us

The Catholic Community at Hopkins is an official student organization of the Johns Hopkins University and is served by the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph.

All of our Sunday Masses are celebrated at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church and University Parish, right across the street from south Homewood campus. The student Newman Center, located in the lower level of parish building next to the Church, serves as a home for the Catholic Community, and it hosts many of our weekly and special events. The Newman Center is always open for studying and socializing, with couches, a pool table, books, a TV, a full kitchen, and our beloved family dinner table.

Catholic ministries are supported the Dominican Order, also known as the Order of Preachers, who are assisted by the entire parish staff. Led by the chaplains, the students serve on the leadership board and help plan and organize multiple weekly spiritual, social, and charitable events. Many students also volunteer to assist at Mass as altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, lectors, musicians, choir members, and more.
